Benefiting from the Burnfoot Hill Community Fund

The Ochils Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) was established almost 50 years ago to help walkers or climbers who get into difficulties while exploring the Ochils area.

Before it existed, anyone losing their way or slipping while crossing one of the gorges or canyons in this sometimes-challenging terrain had to rely on a local farmer or shepherd coming to their rescue.

Now there’s a team of 35 trained members, who provide a mountain rescue service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They’re all volunteers and the team is entirely run on donations, which is why we’re proud to support them at EDF Renewables, with an annual donation of £5,000 – guaranteed until 2039 – through the Burnfoot Hill community fund.

“Without the funding from EDF Renewables, we’d find it more difficult to operate,” says Ross MacIntyre, Secretary of the OMRT.

“We’d spend a lot more time having to fundraise, which would mean the team spent less time on training to be ready for whenever an incident occurs.”
