Cadenham solar farm
- Project Type: Solar
- Country: England
- Location: Suffolk
EDF Renewables is proposing to install a solar farm to the west of the A14 Newmarket bypass, and south east of the villages of Swaffham Prior and Swaffham Bulbeck. Between 7th June and 19th July 2021 we consulted the community on these proposals. We plan to submit a planning application to East Cambridgeshire District Council shortly. Our initial feasibility assessments indicate the site is well suited for a solar farm. The site will connect into National Grid’s Burwell substation and will have an output power capacity of 49.9 MW (Megawatts), generating enough low carbon energy to power the equivalent of 9,500* homes. Should residents wish to speak to us or write to us about the proposals please feel free to get in touch by emailing cadenham@edf-re.uk. * Load factors based on the five year rolling averages on unchanged configuration basis using Table 6.5 of ‘Digest of UK Energy Statistics’ July 2020
** Based upon BEIS’s “all fossil fuels” emissions statistic of 450 tonnes of carbon dioxide per GWh of electricity supplied in the Digest of UK Energy Statistics (published July 2020, p96).
The project will support the UK Government to meet its decarbonisation targets to reduce net carbon emissions to zero by 2050.
