Matthieu Hue, CEO of EDF Renewables UK & Ireland, said:
“The electricity network commissioner’s report is really great news for the UK. Accelerating the investment in our grid infrastructure is absolutely critical to deliver net zero.
“EDF Renewables UK has a large pipeline of wind, solar and battery projects, and we have been calling for faster grid development to avoid lengthy and expensive delays, which are stopping the UK benefitting from its renewables resources which can produce secure and affordable energy.
“The report calls for more anticipatory investment in key areas where renewable projects will be built, which is essential but we need to see the recommendations actioned quickly. This will also allow for the wider changes we need to see in the system such as rolling out electric vehicles and heat pumps which are also essential to deliver on net zero.”
