We are developing a national network of battery storage systems. We have chosen sites that are close to National Grid substations, such as our Indian Queens battery project.

The project secured planning consent in February 2022 as a joint planning permission with an adjacent project developed by a third-party developer. We are preparing to submit a new planning application in Summer 2023 which will be solely for our project, to reflect the final equipment selection and layout, whilst discharging ourselves from the conditions of our original consent. This activity is being progressed in parallel to some pre-construction work on the site which we received permission to undertake as part of the existing consent.

Once complete, the battery will provide essential flexibility to future-proof our electricity system and help deliver secure, affordable, low carbon power.
