Kemsley battery storage

  1. Project Type: Battery storage
  2. Country: England
  3. Location: Kent
Project Status:
  1. Planned
  2. Consented
  3. In Construction
  4. Operational

In Kemsley, Kent we are building a 50MW battery storage facility connected to the high voltage transmission network.

The battery will provide essential flexibility to future-proof our electricity system, support more intermittent renewable generation and help Britain achieve net zero. It will respond in milliseconds to fluctuations in electricity supply and demand, charging or discharging to keep the system stable.

We have appointed EDF to optimise the battery via their PowerShift platform.

To meet its net zero target, the UK needs to invest in low carbon infrastructure. Our battery portfolio will help future-proof the UK’s energy system, giving it the essential flexibility to manage growing levels of solar and wind power whilst also supporting the adoption of EVs.
